With more than 20 years of experience in producing and marketing events, Adam has unmatched skills in creating promotional events and marketing them to a targeted audience. Prior to founding Callanan & Klein Communication with Erin Callanan, Adam was marketing director for WBOS-FM, the top Adult Rock Radio station in Boston. Adam produced concerts and events for the station at local venues and community sites around Greater Boston, including the New England Aquarium, the Museum of Science, the Peabody Essex Museum and the Boston Common.
In 1993, Adam created the WBOS EarthFest, a free concert celebrating Earth Day and the work of local environmental organizations. Held annually on Boston's famed Esplanade, the WBOS EarthFest has become the country's largest annual celebration of Earth Day, attracting such top talent as Sheryl Crow, BareNaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby and an average crowd of 100,000. Adam also produced and promoted an annual summer series of outdoor concerts for WBOS at Copley Square in Boston. In 2002, Adam was named marketing director of the year for Adult Rock Radio Stations by Billboard's Airplay Monitor magazine.
Adam also served as director of public relations for Greater Media, the parent company of WBOS and four other Boston radio, garnering visibility for the stations key personnel, innovative initiatives and ongoing events. He served as publisher of “The GrapeVine,” a quarterly magazine designed to deliver news and organizational updates to an internal audience at 19 radio stations and community newspapers under the Greater Media umbrella.
In addition to his work with WBOS, Adam managed the popular band Entrain from 1996 to 2002, helping Entrain to achieve national airplay on adult rock and non-commercial radio stations.
Adam is a graduate of the University of Rochester and received his MBA from Boston College. He has served on the board of Greyhound Friends, a non-profit organization dedicated to education on the plight of racing greyhounds and finding homes for the dogs and currently sits on the board of Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange and is a member of ISES, the International Special Event Society.
